Two inconspicuous boxes, purchased at a flea market in Paris: labelled ‘Villes / Villages France & Étranger’, they contain glass slides from 1938. Like frozen snapshots in time, they show villages, towns and portraits from France, supplemented by photographs from Nuremberg, Geneva, Bern and Lucerne.
